Privacy notice
This notice explains how Planning Permission Checker (operated by Hampstead Renovations Limited, registered in England & Wales No. 16838595) handles personal data under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. The service is free: nothing is sold here, so we take no payments and never collect card or bank details.
What we collect
Address/postcode searches you run, and — only if you submit an enquiry — your name, email, phone (optional), project type, budget range and any message you provide. If you ask us to email you a free report or sign up for area updates, we store your email, the postcode you checked, the borough, and any optional project type or timeframe you provide. We do not require an account.
Why, and our lawful basis
We process enquiries to respond to your request and put you in touch with the right professional — lawful basis: performance of a request / contract (UK GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)). Passing your details to one of the two practices named below is done only with your explicit consent (Art. 6(1)(a)), captured by a checkbox that names the practice and is enforced server-side. On the enquiry form that consent is required — the form exists to reach a practice. On the report form it is an optional extra: the box starts unticked, we send your report whether or not you tick it, and if you leave it unticked your details go to no one. You can withdraw consent at any time.
Report delivery & area updates
If you ask us to email a report or sign up for updates, we send the report you requested and occasional planning updates for your area on the basis of our legitimate interests (UK GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)) in providing the service you came for. Getting the report never depends on agreeing to anything else: passing your details to one of the practices below is a separate, optional tick on that form and always needs your consent. You can opt out at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email or at /unsubscribe — we honour every request.
Sharing
We do not sell address lookups or enquiries, and this site carries out no professional work itself. A consented enquiry goes to whichever of two independent practices you choose: Hampstead Architecture and Planning, ARB-registered architects, for design, drawings and planning applications; or Hampstead Chartered Surveyors & Building Consultancy, an RICS-regulated chartered surveying practice (RICS Firm Reg. 923064), for surveys, defects, party wall and leasehold matters.
You see which practice will receive the enquiry before it is sent. Each practice is a separate company and becomes the controller of your enquiry once it receives it, handling it under its own privacy notice and contracting with you directly. Where a job needs both — an extension the architects design and the party wall notices the surveyor serves — we say so, and we still pass your details only to the practice you chose. We never pass your details to builders, lead brokers or other third parties.
Retention
Enquiry data is retained for up to 24 months from last contact to handle your project and follow-ups, then deleted or anonymised. Aggregate, non-identifying analytics may be kept longer.
Your rights
You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to processing of your personal data, and to data portability. To exercise these, or to withdraw consent, email contact@planningpermissionchecker.co.uk and we will respond within one month. Send data-protection requests to that address rather than through the enquiry form — the form passes your details to a practice, this address does not. You may also complain to the ICO (ico.org.uk).
